Utility Technician

Description

Field Technicians work under the direct supervision of the Utilities Operations Manager and perform tasks of operation, maintenance, repair and construction of the wastewater, water, gas and fiber utility services. Technicians will be required to receive operator level certifications on all systems the utility department services during their employment with the Utility Department.

 

The job may be physically strenuous and demanding and will require lifting, pulling and managing heavy equipment and objects; Will work in all weather, and must be prepared for both extreme heat and cold, ensuring that all activities are completed in a safe and efficient way; Performs various laboring and skilled tasks when not operating equipment; Performs related duties as needed or assigned.

Initial Pay Rate

$18.50 to $25.00 per hour depending upon qualifications and experience.

Requirements

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and must be a legally able to work within the United States. Applicants must have a clean driving and criminal record; High School Diploma or GED

Preferred

Experience in the operation of light, medium and heavy equipment recommended and be able to operate equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. Professional or journeyman certifications in water, sewer, gas, electric or fiber optic is viewed very favorably.
